Jackson, TN – With the national championship banner hanging high over the playing floor of Lambuth’s Athletic Center the Lady Eagles opened up the 2007-08 season this  past week-in hosting the Annual Tip-Off Classic.

The Lady Eagles broke up a tight first game in the second half of the opener beating West Virginia  U. Tech 98-76.

Lambuth led at the break 41-37. Lambuth forced WVUT into 22 turnovers but had 26 of their own.

Four players scored in double figures. Newcomer Donna Lavea led the way with 25 points. She also grabbed 11 rebounds. Another newcomer, Yolanda Johnson had 20 points. Kayla Bryant  had 12 with Melissa Harrison tossing in 11. Bryant had four three-pointers in the contest.

Lambuth had a 47-34 advantage on the boards and shot 55% from the floor.
